4-H banquet recognizes achievement

The Butler County 4-H had its Annual Achievement Banquet at the General Butler Vagabonds hall earlier this month. More than 220 Butler County 4-H volunteers, members and their guests recognized leaders and members for their achievements during the past year.

Tammy Schultheis was recognized as this year’s Friend of 4-H. Over the years, she has generously given and supported the Butler 4-H program in many ways. Schultheis’ dedication to the program has been seen through being the treasurer of the Butler County Junior Livestock Sale for 19 years.

Leaders were recognized for their years of service starting with first-year leaders and then in increments of five years.

They are first-year leaders – Stephanie Ballentine: Reins and Roses, Karen Bowman: Alpaca Pack, Sarah Walowen, Cameron Suorsa: Youth Council; five-year leaders – Marlene Myers: Caprine Connection, Tara Magill: Travel Club, Sarah Lovell: Bunni Bunch; 10-year leaders – Colleen Mack: Home & Heart, Linda Moser: Kids and Critters; 15-year leaders – Cara Stephenson: Kids and Critters, Shana Sutej: Livestock Club, Kathryn McCurdy: Unionville Sewing, Kathy Hartzell: Judging Team; 20-year leaders – Kati Colteryahn: Jr. Agriculturalist, Donna Vogel: Beef Breeding; 25-year leader – Tina Bryner: Caprine Connection; 30-year leader – Alvin Vogel: Beef Breeding; and 45-year leader – Barb Rader: Travel Club.

The Outstanding 4-H’er awards this year were presented to Outstanding Junior 4-H’er Margaret LeViere, the daughter of Shawn and Lisa LeViere of Portersville; Outstanding Intermediate 4-H’er Denver Ott, the son of Dave and Doris Ott of Sarver; and Outstanding Senior 4-H’er Maren McIntire, the daughter of Russ and Jennifer McIntire of Butler.

Butler County 4-H’ers received awards from Pomona Grange, AgChoice Farm Credit and the Butler 4-H Development Committee based on an application and their project books.

Grange award winners were presented by Jill Cavalero and Rich & Virginia Mangel: Alpaca: Kris Augustine; Horse: Jennifer Cichra; Dairy Cattle: Mason Henry; Goat: Ruth Flock; Rabbits: Sarah Bupp; Beef: Rachel Beacom; Sheep: Elizabeth Heck; Swine: Hunter Smith; Poultry: Matthew Bauer; Textile Science: Sarah Bupp; Leisure Ed: Zephan Samuel; Science & Technology: Zephan Samuel, Consumer Science & Expressive Arts, Zephan Samuel.

AgChoice Farm Credit presented awards to the following 4-H members for the agriculture related projects: Dairy Cattle: Faith Goldscheitter, Goat: Jordan Foertsch, Rabbits: Sarah Bupp, Beef: Kallie Simmons, Sheep: Alyssa Simmons, Swine: Nolan Thurber, Poultry: Melanie Mitchell, and Other: Taylor Miller.

The Butler County 4-H Development Committee gave out the following awards: Horse: Junior Elizabeth King, Intermediate Kendall Myers, and Senior Jennifer Cichra; Dairy Cattle: Intermediate Mason Henry and Senior Ryleigh Henry; Goat: Junior Margaret Leviere, Intermediate Karolina Karner, and Senior Kris Augustine; Rabbits: Junior Caleb Blasko and Intermediate Sarah Bupp; Beef: Junior Alyssa Simmons, Intermediate Denver Ott, and Senior Rachel Beacom; Sheep: Junior Alyssa Simmons, Intermediate Melissa Drake, and Senior Elizabeth Heck; Swine: Junior Nolan Thurber, Intermediate Mason Henry, and Senior Ryleigh Henry; Poultry: Junior Matt Bauer and Senior Timothy Costel; Other Animal Science: Junior Zephan Samuel and Senior Kris Augustine; Textile Science: Junior Madison Blasko, Intermediate Sarah Bupp and Senior Kris Augustine; Leisure Ed: Junior Zephan Samuel; Science & Technology: Junior Zephan Samuel, Intermediate Jeb Kellar and Senior Gretchen Kellar; Consumer Science & Expressive Arts: Junior Eliana Blasko, Intermediate Nicole Michel and Senior Jennifer Morrison; and Environmental and Earth Science: Junior Zephan Samuel.

The following 4-H horse project members were recognized for completing Level 1 Skills: Teagan Ballentine, Grace Burke, Jessica Cornell, Adele Hohn, Leah Karenbauer, Sydney Karenbauer, Zoey Logan, Cydney McDeavitt, Emma Mershimer, Reed Messer, Taylor Miller, Kendall Myers, Liz Olean, Reese Ohorodnyk, Justice Patterson, Rylee Sherman, Hayley Stein and Jadyn Tack; Level 2 Skills: Jessica Cornell and Hayley Stein; Level 3 Skills: Sadie Greyshock; and Level 4 Skills: Jennifer Cichra.

Also recognized were members completing milestone Hoof Hours: Taylor Miller, 100 hours; Reed Messer, 300 hours; Kendall Myers, 600 Hours; and Jennifer Cichra, 1000 hours.

4-H members receiving their Clover Awards consisted of Caleb Blasko: Green and White; Eliana Blasko: Green and White; Madison Blasko: Green; Sarah Bupp: Green, White, Bronze, Silver and Gold; Margaret LeViere: Silver; Jackson LeViere: Green; Gretchen Keller: Green; Jeb Keller: Green; Mia Palamara: Green; Zephan Samuel: Green, White, Bronze and Silver; Rozelynn Smock: Green; Daisy Snow: Green; White, Bronze and Silver; Dylan Thurber: Green; Nolan Thurber: Green; and Samuel Walowen: Green and White.

Club award winners consisted of Petting Zoo Participation – Town and County Kids, Blue Ribbon Club Award – Titans of Technology, Club Scrapbook Winner – Premier Livestock and Individual Scrapbook winner – Zephan Samuel.
