K. Christine (Keefer) Holman, 73, of Butler, moved to her forever home on Nov. 15, 2022, surrounded by family.

Born July 24, 1949, in Oil City, she was the daughter of the late Jerry and Maxine (Seanor) Keefer.

After graduating from Grove City College, she accepted a teaching position in Butler and taught English at Butler Junior High School to seventh-graders for 33 years. Those seventh-graders — many of whom remembered her as a teacher even decades after being in her classroom — and her amazing colleagues at the junior high were an important part of her life. She loved to read, and after her retirement from teaching, she coordinated a retired readers book discussion group that met monthly with some of her former colleagues.

Christine was a longtime member of Butler First UMC, where she joyfully sang in the choir for at least 45 years, and helped facilitate a growth group with her husband, Tom. She also volunteered at the Jean B. Purvis Community Health Center for 12 years in whatever capacity was needed.

She and Tom were married on Dec. 26, 1980, and cherished each other’s company for 40+ years. They enjoyed traveling as long as health and mobility permitted, and had some wonderful trips together. Time spent with family and friends was precious to her.

Besides her much-loved husband, Tom, Christine is survived by her son, Dr. Matthew Holman of St. Clairsville, Ohio; her daughter, Beth (Travis) Culley of Butler; and her grandson, Tyler, a particular bright spot in her life.

She also is survived by her brother, Greg (Kristin) Keefer of Lawrence, Kan.; her niece, Ellen (Andrew) Slikker and great-niece, Elliot May Slikker, also of Lawrence, Kan.; her nephew, Bennett Keefer (Lindsay) of Louisville, Ky.; her sister-in-law, Claire Nixon of Virginia Beach, Va.; her niece, Kristi (Chris) Nixon Cartwright and great-nephew, Jaxson Cartwright; and a number of close cousins.

HOLMAN — All are invited to attend a memorial visitation for K. Christine (Keefer) Holman, who died Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2022, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service at 11 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church, 200 E. North St., Butler.

Arrangements have been entrusted to THOMPSON-MILLER FUNERAL HOME, Butler.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to either First United Methodist Church, 200 E. North St., Butler, PA 16001; or the Jean B. Purvis Community Health Center of Butler County.
