Etha “Cookie” Lila Wolfe, 79, passed away peacefully in her daughter and son-in-law’s home in Evans City on Friday, Nov. 11, 2022, after a 10-year battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
Cookie was born on April 22, 1943, and was the daughter of the late John David Payne and Etha Lila Payne of Gibsonia. She also was preceded in death by her daughter, Mary K. Yoakum; her son, Timothy C. Yoakum; her sister, Judith Bierau; and her brother-in-law, Bill Bierau.
She is survived by her husband, Michael J. Wolfe; her daughters, Deborah (George) Frishkorn and Holly (Tim) McKenna; her stepdaughter, Daelyn Pronesti; two brothers, John (Pat) Payne and Fred (Sheri) Payne; and numerous beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
Cookie was a dedicated employee of the Mars Borough for over 25 years. She was the smiling face that greeted everyone and managed the borough office.
When able, she enjoyed shopping, gardening, maintaining her koi pond, bowling and spoiling her children and grandchildren. During her later years, Cookie was happiest when surrounded by her family and her dog, Kati.
Cookie was known best for her generous heart, youthful and fun personality, contagious laugh and her signature red fingernails.
“Those with Alzheimer’s might forget us, but we, as a society, must remember them.”
