Jo Ann Hendrickson

Hendrickson

Jo Ann Green Hendrickson, 87, of Butler, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Nov. 6, 2022.

The family wishes to thank all the aides, nurses and doctors who gave such loving care to Jo Ann while residing at Sunflower Dementia Unit-Sunnyview Nursing Home. We are forever grateful.

Born in Mount Pleasant on March 16, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Dewey and Annabel Green.

She graduated from Hurst High School in 1953, and had played baritone in the marching band.

In the 1970s and 1980s, she enjoyed working for Kroger Company as a cashier and deli clerk.

In the 1990s, you could find Jo Ann sharing the newest merchandise from House of Lloyd/Christmas Around the World. She started as a demonstrator and quickly advanced to supervisor, then district manager. Her sales earned her trips, and she traveled all over the world.

In the 2000s, Jo Ann enjoyed being a school bus driver. Roenigk Bus Company was her longest bus employer before retiring.

Riding horses and country music were a big part of her life. She loved Wayne Hart, Silver Hammer Band and Tony Barge.

She was a past member of the Tri-State Country Music Association.

She booked local bands at the East Butler Fireman’s Club. Most will remember Jo Ann wearing a cowboy hat and boots.

Of all the titles Jo Ann had, she was most proud to be called Mom, Grandma and Nana.

She is survived by four children, Bruce Pfeifer, Karen Gratzinger Schiebel (David), Keith Gratzinger and Kenny Gratzinger (Joyce); nine grandchildren, Angel Miller, Ken Miller, Matthew Miller, Christopher Schiebel, Jonathan Schiebel, Kenny Lee Gratzinger, Christopher Gratzinger, Joshua Holden and Jenna Holden; nine great-grandchildren, Greggory Miller, Madeleine Miller, Sophia Miller, Eliana Miller, Amaria Miller, Zachary Miller and David Miller, Motley Gratzinger and Jazelle Gratzinger.

In addition to her parents, Jo Ann was preceded in death by a son, Keith Gratzinger; and her brother, Donald Green.
