Ordy

JoAnn Elizabeth Ordy, 86, passed away Nov. 6, 2022, surrounded by her loving family.

She was the daughter of Claude and Garnet Rockenstein Johnson, and was born on Aug. 21, 1936 in Butler.

She was a 1954 graduate of Butler Senior High School.

JoAnn worked at Nationwide in Butler for nine years, and for the Butler Area School District food service department for 13 years.

She was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels for nearly 20 years, and also volunteered for Benbrook Medical Center, the local food bank, served meals for Butler church community dinners, and delivered library books to shut-ins in the community.

Her family meant everything to her, especially her grandchildren, whom she loved spending time with. She treasured the close relationships she shared with each of them. She also enjoyed reading, camping and computer games.

JoAnn is survived by her husband of 60 years, Richard D. Ordy of Butler, whom she married on July 14, 1962; three daughters, Linda (Patrick) Halloran of North Hills, Susan (Steve) Balog of Cranberry Township, and Karen (Dennis) Reep of Butler; five grandchildren, Melanie, Natasha, Joshua, Garrett and Ella; two stepgrandchildren, Austin and Abby; her sister, Nancy Shearer of Butler; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her grandson, Zachary; and her sister, Patty O’Neill of Fort Myers.

ORDY — Visitation for JoAnn Elizabeth Ordy, who died Sunday, Nov. 6, 2022, will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, 128 N. McKean St., Butler.

Interment will follow in North Side Cemetery, Butler.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Butler Meals on Wheels, 218 East Jefferson Street, Butler PA 16001.
