Richard Menchyk
Richard “Richie” Blair Menchyk, 37, of Erie, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2022.
He was born in Boulder, Colo., the son to Linda (Blair) Menchyk, and the late Richard “Rick” Menchyk.
Richie was a fun-loving, intelligent man who loved his family and spending time with family and friends. He was a quiet kid with a kind heart who experimented with drugs that sadly overtook the rest of his life. The reality that he was not going to get better is devastating; the peace of mind that he is no longer suffering and struggling with his demons is comforting. He would often say “this too shall pass.”
He is survived by his son, Elliot; his mother, Linn Kotermanski (Menchyk/Blair) and her husband, Edward Kotermanski; his sister, Gracie Jane Gadeberg, and her four children, Annelise, Brodie, Isley and Miles; and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews on both sides of the family.
In high school, he was involved with the Butler Chapter DeMolay. After graduating from Freeport High School in 2001, he was involved with Stairways Behavioral Health of Butler; Gaudenzia of Pittsburgh; Erie City Mission and Fairweather Lodge, both of Erie. He was loved and will be forever missed by his high school best friend, Scott Lindsay, and Erie friends, Miles, Levi, Kasey, Alexander, Glen, Lynda, Cristi and Rock.
