Robert Zeljak
Robert “Bobby” Zeljak, 88, of Hopewell, passed away on Friday, Oct. 28, 2022. He was born Jan. 31, 1934, in Aliquippa formerly, Logstown, Pa., the eighth child of the late Dimitri and Rose (Ben) Zeljak.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Genevra; and his brothers and sisters, Alex, George, Eli, Bronko, Florence, Dorothy and Milan.
Bobby attended Aliquippa High School until 1953 when he joined the U.S Air Force. After the military, he was employed at J&L Steel for over 20 years as a pipefitter, where they nicknamed him, “Z-man.” Bobby was a member of the St. Elijah Serbian Orthodox Church.
Bobby most enjoyed spending time roaming around the beach in Wildwood, New Jersey, and going to the Indy 500 races with relatives and friends. He also enjoyed following the Pittsburgh sports teams and listening to Frank Sinatra’s “My Way.”
He is survived by his two daughters, Lisa Rose (Michael) Booth and Jean Marie (Steve) Smith; and his grandchildren, whom he will miss dearly, Chloe, Abbey, Anjelica and Jace. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Concordia of Cranberry for the excellent care provided to Bobby.
ZELJAK — At his request, all services were private for Robert “Bobby” Zeljak, who died Friday, Oct. 28, 2022.
Interment took place at St. Elijah Cemetery.
