Betty J. Leslie, 96, formerly of New Castle, passed away the afternoon of Oct. 22, 2022, at Concordia at Cabot.

Born Oct. 11, 1926, in New Castle, she was the daughter of the late William Milton and Alice I. (Sonntag) Coryea.

On Aug. 28, 1948, she married her beloved husband of 74 years, Robert “Bob” L. Leslie, who survives.

Betty was a 1944 graduate of New Castle High School. After graduation, she went on to attend Penn State University.

Throughout her career, Betty worked as an office manager and secretary for various businesses in the New Castle area.

She enjoyed embroidery and reading.

She was a member of Jameson Junior Guild for 54 years, and NCB & PW (New Castle Business Professional Woman), where she served both as past president and past district director. She was also a member of Chapter A of PEO (Philanthropic Education Organization) and served as past president and treasurer.

Betty was an active member of Clen-Moore Presbyterian Church, where she served as youth group adviser, taught Sunday school for 40 years, was the superintendent of the primary department, and served as an elder on the Christian education committee.

In addition to her husband, Betty is survived by one daughter, Karen (Carl) Baughman of Butler; two sons, David R. (Mayri) Leslie of Stevensville, Md., and James R. (Judy) Leslie of Lebanon, Pa.; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters, Mabel Kneram, Clara Tharpe, Mildred Manion and Shirley Lutz; and two brothers, Lester Coryea and William Coryea.

LESLIE — Visitation for Betty J. Leslie, who died Saturday, Oct. 22, 2022, will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Friday at R. CUNNINGHAM FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle.

A funeral service will take place immediately after visitation at 4 p.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. Aaron Christy of Clen-Moore Presbyterian Church officiating.

Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery.
