Symphony event celebrates earth
The Butler County Symphony Association’s second concert of the season, “Voices of Nature,” will be at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 5 in the Butler intermediate High School auditorium.
The symphony includes Beethoven’s Symphony No. 6 “Pastoral” and Vaughan Williams’ “Concerto for Oboe & Strings” with soloist Hilary Philipp.
Rising new composer Reinaldo Moya will present his latest piece, “Dark Earth: Anthropogenic Amazon,” which celebrates Mother Earth, according to an Oct. 20 news release from the symphony association.
“Dark Earth“ is built as a series of cycles that get longer and longer to represent geological time passing. Three styles are meant to represent the human culture that has evolved alongside the Amazon and that continues to thrive today, the news release said.
A free lecture by Maestro Matthew Kraemer will precede the orchestra show at 6:30 p.m.
Concert tickets purchased by Nov. 4 are $30 for adults and $10 for children and students. The cost at the door is $35 for adults and $12 for children and students. Group rates are available. To purchase tickets, visit the symphony association’s website at butlersymphony.org, or call 724-283-1402.
