SUV hits house, driver injured
A driver was extricated from a sport-utility vehicle and flown to a Pittsburgh hospital early Friday after crashing into a house in Callery.
The homeowner, who was not injured, called 911 around 2 a.m. after the vehicle struck the front porch of his home in the 1300 block of Mars-Evans City Road, according to Randy Hoffman, captain of the Callery Volunteer Fire Company.
“We worked on extrication and patient care,” Hoffman said.
Firefighters removed the driver’s side of the vehicle to extricate the driver, a man believed to be in his 20s, but they also removed the passenger side of the vehicle in case a “plan B” was needed to get him out of the vehicle, Hoffman said.
He said the vehicle was wedged between the porch and the house. The porch was damaged, but no structural damage was done to the home, he said.
The section of road where the crash occurred was closed for about 90 minutes while crews attended to the driver and towed the vehicle.
The Adams Area Fire District and Quality EMS also responded to the crash. State police are investigating, Hoffman said.
