A triaxle truck crashed into and broke two utility poles by the VA Health Center on New Castle Road at around 1:30 p.m. Thursday. The driver was not injured.

The truck was the only vehicle involved in the crash, said Scott Frederick, director of emergency services for Butler Township. Firefighters closed New Castle Road from Duffy Road to the intersection at the VA and Butler Commons so crews could clear the wires that fell to the ground after the crash.

Frederick also said New Castle Road will be closed for a few more hours while utility crews from Armstrong and Century Lumen Technologies, formerly known as CenturyLink, work on the downed power lines.

Butler Township Volunteer Fire District, the VA Butler Healthcare Fire Department and Butler Township police responded to the scene.
