Part of I-79 in county closing for nighttime work
A section of I-79 north between exits 83 and 88 in the county will close from 8 p.m. Oct. 22 to 6 a.m. Oct. 23 for a sign replacement project, according to the state Department of Transportation.
Crews from IA Construction of Franklin and Power Contracting Company of Carnegie will be removing a damaged sign structure and erecting a new one.
There will be a night-time detour on I-79 north from Exit 83: Evans City to Exit 88: Little Creek Road. Drivers heading northbound on I-79 during this time are advised to follow the posted detour by exiting onto Exit 83: Evans City to Route 528 and then to Route 19 north. Drivers can follow Route 19 north to Little Creek Road where they can re-enter I-79 North.
