Thiry

Lois Stella (Crownover) Thiry, 91, of Cowansville, died on Thursday, Oct. 6, 2022, at ACMH Hospital.

She was born Feb. 28, 1931, in Ford City, and was the daughter of Smith Emerson and Leona (Riggle) Crownover.

Mrs. Thiry was retired from Moonlight Mushroom in Worthington. She enjoyed working as a karaoke D.J., and singing with various local country bands. Her hobbies included cooking, baking, playing 500 bid, keeping a beautiful home, and above all, spending time with her family and friends.

She was a member of Union First Presbyterian Church, where she served as a deacon and a member of the Golden Links.

Survivors include her seven children, James Thiry and his wife, Ann, of Maine, Sandra (Thiry) Bowser and her husband, Steve, of Cowansville, Judy (Thiry) Wansolich and her husband, Joe, of Freeport, Dianna (Thiry) Herrit and her husband, Dennis, of Butler, John Thiry and his wife, Jane, of Delmont, David Thiry and his wife, Michele, of Chicora, and Pamela (Thiry) Flanigan and her husband, Richard, of Kittanning; 19 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Smith “Ferd” Crownover of Kittanning; her sisters-in-law, Ruth Smith of Hermitage, and Doris Cousins of Kittanning; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James A. Thiry, who died in 1999; and her sisters, Ila Marie Bortmus, Lorraine “Katie” Moore, Eleanor Spell, Florence “Brocky” Deal, Gayle McCarthy, Lucy Retzer and Patty Zimmerman.

THIRY — Friends of Lois Stella (Crownover) Thiry, who died Thursday, Oct. 6, 2022, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at SNYDER-CRISSMAN FUNERAL HOME, 832 East Brady Road, Cowansville.

Additional visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Union First Presbyterian Church, 824 East Brady Road, Cowansville.

The funeral service held at 11 a.m. will be officiated by the Rev. Mary Marks King.

Interment is in Lawn Haven Burial Estates in Worthington.
