Francis Soose Sr.

Francis L. Soose Sr., 88, of Butler, passed away on Sept. 29, 2022, at Sugar Creek Rest skilled nursing home.

He was born July 10, 1934, in Butler, and was the son of the late George Soose and the late Olive Wise Soose.

Francis graduated from Butler High School, and Nyack College, where he received his bachelor’s degree.

He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.

Francis worked in the combustion department at Armco.

He was a member of North Main Street Church of God.

Francis enjoyed taking country rides with his wife.

Francis is survived by his wife, Madeline C. Soose, whom he married on March 19, 1955, and they had recently celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary.

He is also survived by his two sons, Francis L. Soose Jr. of Butler and James E. Soose of Sarasota, Fla.; two daughters, Susan S. (Daniel) Snyder of Butler and Sheila M. Soose of Pittsburgh; two grandchildren, Sarah Snyder and Lauren Soose; two great-grandchildren, Ella and Lincoln; two brothers, Gerald Soose of Butler and Larry Soose of Butler; one sister, Pat McDougal of Barkeyville; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Steve Soose; one daughter-in-law, Theresa Soose; one granddaughter, Samantha Snyder; two brothers; and two sisters.

SOOSE — Friends of Francis L. Soose Sr., who died Thursday, Sept. 29, 2022, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at THOMPSON-MILLER FUNERAL HOME, 124 E. North St., Butler.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Brandon Lenhart officiating.

A private burial will take place in the Harrisville Prairie Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to North Main Street Church of God, 1201 North Main Street Ext., Butler, PA, 16001.
