George Dellen Sr.
George V. Dellen Sr., 73, of East Brady, passed away Saturday, Sept. 3, 2022, at Butler Memorial Hospital.
He was born Nov. 9, 1948, in Butler, and was the son of the late Steve and Dorothy (Gordon) Dellen.
George was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served in Vietnam on board the USS Winston.
He enjoyed hunting, boating and watching his children and especially his granddaughter play sports.
He was a lifetime member of the VFW and United Mine Workers.
George spent 31 years with Penn Allegheny as a coal miner. He then went to work at Penreco-Calumet as a boiler operator and plant mechanic, retiring after 15 years.
Surviving are his wife, Marie Dellen; his daughter, Linda (Ed) Metzmaier of Gibsonia; his son, George (Heather) Dellen Jr. of East Brady; his granddaughter, Sarah Metzmaier; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Phyllis Diane Dellen.
DELLEN — Friends of George V. Dellen Sr., who died Saturday, Sept. 3, 2022, will be received from 3 p.m. until the time of service at 7 p.m. Wednesday at THOMPSON-MILLER FUNERAL HOME, 124 E. North St., Butler.
Officers and members of the American Legion Post 117, American Legion Post 778, and the VFW Post 249 will conduct military services at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
A private burial will take place at North Butler Cemetery of Oakland Township.
