II-VI Inc., a manufacturer specializing in lasers headquartered in Saxonburg, announced Tuesday that its board of directors unanimously agreed to extend CEO Chuck Mattera’s contract through Aug. 1, 2030.

Mattera’s journey with II-VI began when he served on the board from 2000-2002, eventually working his way up the company ladder to vice president and chief operating officer.

He became the company’s third president and CEO in 45 years in 2016 and has continued as CEO when the roles of president and CEO were separated in June 2019.

“Chuck’s vision, energy and execution have driven our acquisition-related integration activities in the United States, Europe and Asia, thereby establishing additional growth engines that provide agility and sustainability to the company’s operations,” said Shaker Sadasivam, chairman of the board’s compensation committee.
