Shirley Barger
Shirley A. Barger, 85, of Butler, passed away on Aug. 5, 2022, at the Good Samaritan Hospice in Cabot.
She was born July 2, 1937, in Salem Township, Pa., and was the daughter of the late Rex R. McElhattan and the late Ila C. (Shakley) McElhattan.
Shirley graduated from Keystone High School in Knox.
She was a member of North Main Street Church of God. Shirley taught adult Sunday school classes for 60 years. She was a president of Christian Women’s Connection and the president of Brookstone Condo Association.
Shirley was a homemaker. She enjoyed reading and going to the symphony and to Whitehall Camp.
She is survived by her son, Donald A. Barger (Alesia) of Emlenton; two daughters, Deborah K. Jordan of Knox and Pamela J. Gruver (Stanley) of Butler; seven grandchildren, Kelly Barrett (Doug), Courtney Andryka (Aaron), Tiffany Lauer (Matt), Mandy Lesney (Kory), Ben Barger (Victoria), Katelyn Dush (Garrett) and Jazlyn Menees (Lucas); 13 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Connie Whitmore and Darlene McElhattan, both of Knox.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles “Tom” Barger, whom she married on Sept. 22, 1956, and who passed away on Aug. 19, 1998; two brothers; and four sisters.
BARGER — Friends of Shirley A. Barger, who died Friday, Aug. 5, 2022, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 7, 2022, at THOMPSON-MILLER FUNERAL HOME, 124 E. North St., Butler.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at North Main Street Church of God, 1201 N. Main St. Ext., Butler, with Pastor Brandon Lenhart officiating.
Burial will take place at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Perry Township, Clarion County, Parker.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Whitehall Camp & Conference Center Inc., 580 Whitehall Road, Emlenton, PA 16373.
