Donna Peterson
Donna Marie Peterson, 91, passed away on Saturday, July 16, 2022.
Donna, the daughter of John and Maggie Mason, was born on Jan. 16, 1931, in Falmouth, Mich. She married Richard Peterson from Cadillac, Mich. on May 30, 1952.
Donna was a homemaker, raising three children in addition to working alongside her husband owning and operating Burger King restaurants in the Pittsburgh area for more than 25 years.
Her longevity could be attributed to not only good genes but a dedicated exercise schedule at the local YMCA. The Y also functioned as a social club where she befriended many women with whom she continued to stay in contact. She was fiercely independent, living on her own until her death. Donna was competitive and active, constantly seeking out new activities and challenges. She played basketball at CMU in her college days, then turned to tennis and golf in her adult life, and finally aerobics at the Y.
In more recent years, she passed her time reading, doing puzzles and to the chagrin of her children, becoming an expert in online shopping. Christmas came early for her loved ones as many packages continue to arrive from her Christmas in July shopping.
She is survived by her children, Greg (Jane) Peterson, Bob (Deb) Peterson and Karen (Al) Feinauer; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Richard, one brother and two sisters.
