Alberta Steighner
Alberta Louise “Birty Lou” Kuhn Edwards Steighner, 90, of Butler, passed away Monday, Aug. 1, 2022, at her residence.
Born Dec. 12, 1931, in Herman, she was a daughter of the late Joseph J. and Clare E. Michel Kuhn.
She was a member of Saint Francis of Assisi Parish, Saint Mary of the Assumption Roman Catholic Church.
Birty Lou was a graduate of Butler High School Class of 1951.
A homemaker, she was also employed in the medical office of Dr. Edward Sutton from 1952-1956, as a supervisor for the G.C. Murphy Co./Murphy’s Mart from 1971-1974, and in the medical office of Dr. James Byers from 1985-1989.
She enjoyed a morning cup of coffee while reciting her daily prayers and praying the rosary, word search puzzles, cooking, and watching people, wildlife and nature — especially birds.
She is survived by her children, Dale F. Edwards and his wife, Terri, of Fenelton, and Veronica Walker and her husband, Bradley, of Butler; seven grandchildren, Brad Walker Jr., Candace Williams, Shanna Edwards, Randy Edwards, Dale Michael Edwards, Jordan Edwards and Kelly Edwards; three great-grandchildren, Carys Walker, Remington Williams and Charlotte Edwards; two sisters, Rita Mustahf of Butler and Yvonne Orloski of Hilliards; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Birty Lou was preceded in death by her first husband, Dale Leroy Edwards, who passed away Aug. 7, 1989; her second husband, Clair J. Steighner Sr., who passed away Feb. 14, 2007; one son, Ralph J. Edwards, who passed away April 19, 2009; and two sisters, Wilma Kuhn Bauer and Veronica Kuhn.
STEIGHNER — Friends of Alberta Louise “Birty Lou” Kuhn Edwards Steighner, who died Monday, Aug. 1, 2022, will be received from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday in the MARTIN FUNERAL HOME, 429 Center Ave., Butler.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday from Saint Francis of Assisi Parish, Saint Mary of the Assumption Roman Catholic Church, 821 Herman Road, Butler, with the Rev. James Kurtz, OFM Cap., officiating.
Burial will take place in Saint Mary’s Cemetery.
