Anna Marie Lenzi
Anna “Ann” Marie Lenzi, 100, of Butler, passed away July 11, 2022, at Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center of natural causes following a short illness. She had planned to return to her home on Butler’s South Side.
Ann was born March 18, 1922, in Butler, and was the daughter of the late Guiditta (Tintori) and Alfredo Rosellini. She was married to Italo Peter Lenzi, also of Butler, from May 17, 1952, until his death from a heart attack on Oct. 15, 1956. For Ann, it was an unexpected turn in her life. With the help of her family, Ann raised her then three-year-old son Peter, and one-year-old daughter, Sandra, as a single mother.
Ann embraced motherhood as she embraced life, volunteering for her children’s activities, for her church, and for many other organizations. She was a classroom mother, a Midget Football League mom, and a Girl Scout leader. She volunteered for the March of Dimes, for the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and for the Sunnyview Ladies Auxiliary.
Ann was a devout Catholic, and a lifelong member of All Saints Parish, St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church. She volunteered for many parish events and activities, serving as a Eucharistic minister, counting weekly donations, and working in the kitchen during fundraising events.
Ann was active in 55 And Alive!, and joined a small line-dancing troupe that entertained other seniors. She also enjoyed bowling, exercising, gardening and was an avid reader.
Ann worked at the Spaide Shirt Factory as an inspector during World War II, and at her cousin Miriam Lippi’s grocery, following her husband’s death. She worked as a cook in the Sunnyview dietary department for 16 years, until her retirement in 1989.
Ann is survived by her son, Peter of Farmington, N.M.; her daughter, Sandra (Michael DuFermont) of Butler; her sister-in-law, Marge Rosellini; and her cousin, Miriam Lippi; along with two grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Ann was preceded in death by her brothers, Rick Rosellini, Lou Rosellini and his wife, Marilyn; and her sister, Lena Koch and her husband, Melvin. Her brothers-in-law, Ado Lenzi, Bruno Lenzi and his wife, Bruna, and many other beloved family members also preceded her in death.
