Russ Redding, state agriculture secretary, will visit Butler County on Monday as part of Urban Ag Week.

Redding will learn about Community Partnership during his visit to 771 Mercer Road in Butler.

Community Partnership focuses on independence through strengthened food security.

Community Partnership tends to three community gardens in the county and used a $2,500 Urban Agriculture Infrastructure Grant to purchase a hoop house, greenhouse, gardening tools and soil testing kits to support the Seed to Supper program and teach area residents how to grow their own food.

Redding will visit five urban agriculture operations on Monday in Erie, Lawrence and Butler counties.
