Loretta Ward

Loretta Irene Ward, 76, of Butler, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 5, 2022, under the care of Good Samaritan Hospice at Concordia in Cabot surrounded by her family.

Born Sept. 28, 1945, in Kittanning, Loretta was the daughter of the late Arnold D. Bowser and Florence (Smith) Bowser.

Loretta attended Kittanning High School and went on to work for the Liquor Control Board until her retirement in 2004. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Butler. Loretta enjoyed sewing, porcelain doll making, flower gardening, bird watching and volunteering as a lunch lady at First Baptist School.

She is survived by her four sons, Steven Smock and his wife, Cheryl, of Emlenton, James Ward III and his wife, Melissa, Michael Ward and his wife, Stacey, and Ryan Wilcox and his wife, Jessica, all of Butler; two daughters, Lesli Berry and her husband, Doug, of Akron, Ohio, and Bethany Schoentag and her husband, Geremy, of Chicora; four brothers, Arnold Bowser and his wife, Pat, of Kittanning, Chester Bowser and his wife, Jeanne, of Springdale, Frank Bowser and his wife, Carol, of Freeport, and Thomas Bowser and his wife, Linda, of Butler; her sister, Joan Neale of Girard, Ohio; 17 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Loretta was preceded in death by her husband, James C. Ward Jr., whom she married on Feb. 24, 1996, and who passed away on Sept. 27, 2018; and two brothers, Richard and George Bowser.

WARD — All are invited to attend a visitation for Loretta Irene Ward, who died Tuesday, July 5, 2022, from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at THOMPSON-MILLER FUNERAL HOME, 124 E. North St. Butler.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church, 221 W. New Castle St. Butler, with Pastor David Maitland officiating.

Interment will follow in Greenlawn Burial Estates.

In lieu of flowers, the family of Loretta requests memorial contributions be made in her honor to Good Samaritan Hospice at Concordia, 134 Marwood Road, Cabot, PA 16023.
