David Johns
David Lewis Johns, 72, of Chicora, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, July 3, 2022, at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh. Born Friday April 7, 1950 in Kittanning, he was the son of the late Sherman F. and the late Rose (Gauker) Johns.
Dave attended East Brady High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in Germany and in Vietnam. He was in Vietnam from 1969 until 1970 and worked in the United States Mortuary in DaNang. He was proud to serve his country. After the service he worked at the glass plant in Parker. He was then employed at Witco/Sonneborn and became the Chief Hydro Operator; he worked there from 1973 until retiring in 2012.
Dave, along with his wife, Nancy, loved to travel, driving to 49 states. He was a photographer at heart and enjoyed taking pictures of everything, especially of all kinds of wildlife — and of the bald eagles at Goddard State Park.
Dave leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 53 years, Nancy (Barger) Johns, of Chicora, having just celebrated their anniversary on June 28; his daughter, Rebecca, and her husband, Alan Visnyai, of Elyria, Ohio; three sons, David Johns and his girlfriend, Amanda Deal, of Chicora; William and his wife, Stephanie Johns, of Karns City; Ronald and his wife, Amanda Johns, of Dearborn, Mich.; his 13 grandchildren, twin grandsons Michael and Gregory Visnyai; Sabrina Johns and her boyfriend, Brock Allshouse; David, Sarah, Dominick, Jasmine and Scarlet Johns; Annabel and Elizabeth Johns; and Mason, Juliana and Oliver Johns. Also surviving are his two brothers, Robert Johns and his girlfriend, Kathy Lockwood, of Hallton, and Terry and Mary Johns of Kittanning; his brother-in-law, David Krizmanich of Kittanning; many aunts, uncles and cousins; a sister-in-law, Shirley and James Hankey of Hernando, Fla.; and his brother-in-law, Timothy Barger and Beth Johns of Kittanning. He is also survived by his step-mother-in-law, Joan Barger and her family of Karns City.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents; his brothers, Raymond and Edward Johns; his sister, Frances Krizmanich; his sisters-in-law, Georjane Johns and Linda Johns; and numerous relatives.
