Karns City school board meeting

TOWN CRIER

At its Monday meeting, the Karns City Area School District Board made the following motions.

*Approved the final version of the 2022-23 budget in the amount of $25.5 million, with an elimination of the per captita tax. Per capita taxes are $10 annually for every adult in a residence. The lost revenue will be replenished with a slight millage increase.

*Approved the payment of $925 to Mark Stowe for the removal of asbestos from a residential building at 207 Kittanning Street. The property was previously purchased by the school district. The asbestos was safely removed and the building razed.

*Approved prices of lunches for the 2022-2023 school year. Breakfast will remain free for all students with an adult cost of $1.70. Elementary student lunch is $2.45, and middle/high school student lunch is $2.65. Adult lunches are $3.55 each.

*Approved the rejection of any and all bids for the Chicora Elementary School project, due to their being $8 million over the slated $18 million budget.
