Edward R. Lipps, 77, of Butler, passed away unexpectedly late Sunday evening, June 12, 2022, at his residence.

He was born Aug. 4, 1944, in Mount Pleasant, and was the son of the late John T. Sr. and Ethel Lenore May Lipps.

Ed was a member of the Partner Parish of St. John the Baptist R.C. Church in Scottdale.

He was a graduate of East Huntingdon High School Class of 1962. Ed attended Penn State University and graduated in 1968. He was a retired controller for Mailing Services of Pittsburgh.

He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in Korea from 1969 until 1971.

He was an avid golfer, loved to go on cruises and to take road trips in his spare time. He was a 10-year plus AARP tax aide.

Ed was a gentleman and a loyal friend to everyone he knew.

Ed was a loving husband, brother and uncle to his family.

Ed is gone from our lives, but will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him, his loving and devoted wife of 49 years, whom he married Dec. 9, 1972, Dorothy A. Salitrik Lipps of Butler; his siblings, John T. “J.T.” Lipps and his wife, Kristen, of Mount Pleasant, and Mary Margaret “Margie” Lipps of Scottdale; his nieces and nephews, Jo Ann Elijah, Ronald Malone, Bill Salitrik, Martha Summers, Druann Merchbaker, Matthew Salitrik, David Salitrik, Eric Salitrik, Geoff Salitrik and Kyle Salitrik, Chelsea Queer, and Eric Harshman; and his three cats, whom he loved.

In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death by his sister, Patricia Malone, who passed away on June 9, 2015.

LIPPS — The family of Edward R. Lipps, who died Sunday, June 12, 2022, greeted friends Thursday, June 16, 2022, at FRANK KAPR FUNERAL HOME, Scottdale.

Prayers of Transfer were held Friday at the funeral home, followed by his funeral Mass at the Partner Parish of St. John the Baptist R.C. Church, Scottdale, with the Rev. George Saletrik as celebrant.

Committal services and interment followed in St. John Parish Cemetery, Scottdale.

Full military honors were accorded by the Scottdale-Everson Honor Guard at the funeral home.
