Senate honors former Senator Charles Timothy Shaffer
The state Senate adopted a resolution Tuesday introduced by Sen. Scott Hutchinson, R-21, honoring the life and work of former Sen. Charles Timothy Shaffer.
Shaffer, who served the 21st Senatorial District from 1981 to 1996, died on May 3. In addition to being a senator, he was a military veteran, judge and an attorney.
In 2010, he was nominated by Gov. Ed Rendell and confirmed by the Senate to fill a Butler County Magisterial District Court vacancy. In 2018, in gratitude of his $1 million donation, Butler County Community College established The Shaffer School of Nursing and Allied Health, according to a news release from Hutchinson’s office.
