Steele

Mary Steele, 87, of Athens, Ala., passed away on Friday, June 10, 2022, at her residence.

She was born July 7, 1934, to Wilbert John Kerr and Geraldine McSherry Kerr.

Mrs. Steele is survived by her husband, Dean Steele Sr.; her sons, Dean Steele Jr. and Douglas Steele; her daughter, Nannette Bedi (Thomas); six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Gwendolyn; and her sisters, Virginia and Phyllis.

Mrs. Steele loved volunteering and she and her husband were volunteers at Athens Limestone Hospital for more than 10 years.

She enjoyed her work as a dental assistant. She was a loving mother and enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. When not spending time with her family, she enjoyed bowling and square dancing with her husband.
