Mona Grace McClure Hegburg, 94, of Chicora, formerly of Sugarcreek Township, Armstrong County, passed away Wednesday afternoon, June 1, 2022, at Quality Life Services in Sugarcreek Township, Armstrong County.

Mona was born on June 10, 1927, in Sugarcreek Township. She was the youngest daughter of the late Thomas Harvey Bradshaw McClure and Ida May Kamerer McClure.

She was a 1944 graduate of Fairview Township-Karns City High School.

She was a charter member of the Sugarcreek Township Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, and in her younger years, she was the manager of several clothing stores in Butler, and also was a manager at Sun Drug in Butler.

She was a lifelong active member of St. Paul Community Church in Sugarcreek Township, and in her 80s, went with other church members on a mission trip to Venezuela.

Mona was well-known for her outgoing personality, friendliness, and always enjoying conversing with others.

She is survived by her sister, Flora Mellish, a resident of Quality Life Services, formerly of East Brady Road; as well as a number of nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews, who all held a special place in her heart.

Mona was preceded in death by her husband, John E. “Ted” Hegburg, whom she married at St. Paul Community Church on Feb. 23, 1946.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Thomas A.B. McClure and his wife, Mary, Robert McClure and his wife, Peg, Ruth Atkinson and her husband, Jim, Dorothy Atkinson and her husband, George, and Ray McClure and his wife, Pat; and a brother-in-law, Paul Mellish.

HEGBURG — Friends of Mona Grace McClure Hegburg, who died Wednesday, June 1, 2022, will be received from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Paul Community Church, SR 268, Chicora.

A funeral service will follow at 2:15 p.m. at the church with the Rev. Frank Sapp Jr., church pastor, officiating.

Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the HILE FUNERAL HOME OF CHICORA.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Ladies Auxiliary of Sugarcreek Township Fire Department or St. Paul Community Church in Chicora.
