Jones

Carl N. Jones, 90, of Zelienople, passed away on Thursday, May 26, 2022, in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his family.

Born March 19, 1932, in Evans City, he was the son of the late Paul D. Jones and Thelma I. Rice Jones. Carl graduated as valedictorian of the 1950 class of Evans City High School. He then went on to graduate from Geneva College in 1958. Carl was employed over the years by Valley Building and Loan, Fort Pitt Bank and First Federal Bank. He retired from Citizens National Bank (now NexTier) in 1994.

Carl met and married his wife, Mary Lou Iman, on July 19, 1952. They were together for 56 wonderful years.

Carl was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ in Evans City since 1955, where he served as a deacon, an elder, and on consistory. He served as president of vonsistory in 1989.

Carl was a member of the Evans City Lions Club since 1969. He served as treasurer since 1988 and received the Melvin Jones Fellow Award in both 2011 and 2022 for his service. Carl also was a member of Harmony Lodge 429 F&AM since 1959, and he volunteered to deliver Meals on Wheels from 1996 to 2017.

In his free time, Carl enjoyed hunting, playing golf and tending his flowers. He loved trapshooting and shot many times in the Butler County Trap League over the years. He also enjoyed attending the Evans City Sportsman’s Club. Carl prepared the family income taxes for many years.

Above all, he and his wife enjoyed traveling to visit their family, and Carl loved capturing memories with his camera. He will be dearly missed and fondly remembered.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his children, David C. (Sue Ann) Jones of Evans City, and Marcia Ann Jones of Zelienople; his grandchildren, Erik (Whitney) Jones, Kirt Jones, Lindsey (John) Chmiel, Heather (Jon) Pauloski, and Kory (Heather) Jones; and his great-grandchildren, Logan, Leo, Quinn, and Kendra.

In addition to his parents, Carl was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lou, who passed away on Dec. 18, 2008; his brother, Paul Jones Jr.; his sister, Evelyn Gandy; and a granddaughter.

JONES — Friends of Carl N. Jones, who died Thursday, May 26, 2022, will be received from 2 p.m. until the time of the funeral ceremony at 6 p.m.Wednesday at St. John’s United Church of Christ, 501 E. Main St., Evans City, with Pastor Lisa Griffin officiating. A Masonic service will be held at 5:45 P.M. at the church.

Carl will be laid to rest at Evans City Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Carl’s honor to St. John’s United Church of Christ, at the address listed above.
