John Boyle II
John Wilson Boyle II (aka Jack) died due to cardiac arrest on April 29, 2022, at his home in San Diego, Calif. He had been suffering from Alzheimer’s disease.
John was the oldest of two children born to Jack and Mary Boyle in 1949, in Pittsburgh. He grew up in Butler, attended St. Paul Catholic School and Butler High School. He was a star baseball player and Eagle Scout. John went on to graduate from Gannon University in Erie in 1971. He was an active member of the Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity.
John was working for Oscar Mayer Meat company in 1976 as a salesman in Roanoke, Va., where he met his wife, Karen. They subsequently moved to San Diego, Calif., in 1978, where they were married and made San Diego their home. They were married for 43 years.
John loved baseball, football, history, travel and politics. Having grown up in Pennsylvania, he was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Steelers, and eventually the San Diego Chargers and Padres.
He was a great chef and a master with the Weber grill. He enjoyed wine and Guinness beer.
John sold printed circuit boards and set up his own company, Circuit Board Sources.
John had a dry wit, a wonderful sense of humor and loved to engage people using humor. He liked attending the theater, and especially enjoyed Shakespearian plays. He and Karen traveled to most of the U.S. states, seeking out historical sites and visiting state capitals. Gettysburg, Pa., Mount Rushmore in South Dakota, and Little Big Horn in Montana were some of his favorite historical sites. John enjoyed reading the biographies of past presidents, as well as books about the kings and queens of England. He enjoyed discussing and debating politics.
John is survived by his wife, Karen; and his sister, Diane Szwez (Nick). He is also survived by his nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Mary Boyle; aunts and uncles, Jack and Tessie (Boyle) Cunningham, Tom and Connie Boyle, and George and Grace Roberts; and two nephews, Patrick Szwez and Brian Roundtree.
BOYLE — A celebration of life is planned in June for John Wilson Boyle II (aka Jack), who died Friday, April 29, 2022.
