Jonathan Arthur Blackburn, 23, of Worthington, was born June 14, 1998, on the Blackburn Family Farm, Armstrong County, where he died on Sunday, May 22, 2022, at 10:27 p.m.

He was the son of Daniel James and Sherri Lee Burkett Blackburn, and was a 2016 graduate of Armstrong High School.

Jonathan was self-employed with his father, Daniel, at Blackburn and Son Construction. Jonathan was an excellent carpenter. The family business was started in 1987.

He was proud of the Blackburn Farm. Jonny loved spending time there and built a treehouse on the farm.

He enjoyed camping, hiking, rock climbing, rappelling, skateboarding, biking and snowboarding. He was an avid reader, and loved photography and playing his vinyl records and guitar. He had a fascination with space and history, and loved to learn.

Jonny adored and loved his family and friends.

Surviving are his parents, Daniel J. Blackburn and his fiancée, Lou Ann Schreckengost, of Worthington, and Wade G. and Sherri L. Burkett Shanholtz of Worthington; two sisters, Valerie Danielle Blackburn and her fiancé, Traelon Antonio Lyles, of New Castle, and Hannah Mae (Brandon) Murtland of Harrisville; his nephew, Taireke Antonio Giovaughn Lyles of New Castle; his grandparents, John R. Burkett Sr. of Chicora, Hugh and Betty J. Maillki Bonner of Worthington, and Connie J. Ford Bowser Bish of Ford City; his aunt, Margaret Fleming Burkett of Chicora; his uncle, Troy E. Burkett and his wife, Marnie Bowser Burkett, of Cranberry Township; his aunt, Deana J. Burkett Nicholas and her husband, John Nichols Jr., of Grove City; his aunt, Carol Johnson Cain of Stevensville, Md.; his uncle, Kevin Shanholtz of Worthington; his aunt, Gi Gi Bonner of Ford City; his aunt, Amy Bonner Mundy of Ford City; his uncle, Jeremy Bowser of Ford City; his cousins, Hunter, Vincent, Justin and Faith Burkett of Chicora, Kaitlyn Burkett Hudanick and her husband, Paul Hudanick, of Raleigh, N.C., Nathan Burkett of Cranberry Township, and Jaclyn and Andrew Nichols of Grove City; and a number of other cousins, nieces and nephews.

Also surviving are a number of great-aunts and great-uncles.

He was preceded in death by a parent, Trisha Mae Bowser Blackburn; his grandparents, Merline Arthur and Eva Pearl Whealton Blackburn, Bonnie Louise Blackburn Gerheim, Barbara Lee Williams Burkett, Gary Bowser, and Bernard Bish; his uncle, John R. Burkett Jr.; his aunt, Martha Bonner Watterson; and his cousin, Tyler Watterson.

BLACKBURN — Friends of Jonathan Arthur Blackburn, who died Sunday, May 22, 2022, will be welcomed from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday at WELCH FUNERAL SERVICE, 1032 Fourth Ave., Ford City, where a service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday.
