Viola Green

Green

“My family is my greatest treasure” was the quote Viola “Min” Green left for her family to read. Min passed peacefully at Magnolia Place of Saxonburg on May 19, 2022, at age 90.

Born Oct. 24, 1931, in West Winfield, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Mary (Dovjak) Varljen. She was a lifelong resident of Butler. She celebrated her 60th wedding anniversary to Aloysius “Skip” Green prior to his passing in 2013. They raised their close-knit family near Herman.

Min was passionate about her Catholic faith. She was an active member of St. Mary of the Assumption Parish (now St. Francis of Assisi). She was a Eucharistic minister for many years and continued this ministry for her fellow Magnolia residents. She was a member of the People of God prayer group.

Her memory lives on in her six children, David (Paula) Green of Bluffton, S.C., Barbara (Frank) Pinto of Leland, N.C., Susan Green of Norristown, Pa., Beth (John) Perri of Maple Glen, Pa., Donald (Diane) Green of Crittenden, Ky., and Amy (David) Gallagher of Butler.

She is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; her brothers, Frank and Lou Varljen; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Leo and John; and her sisters, Mary Heist, Emma Michalski and Tillie Wolfe.
