Ruth E. Orlowsky, 79, of Butler, passed away on Monday, May 9, 2022.

Born Nov. 5, 1942, in Butler, she was a daughter of the late Tony S. Yurkovich and Mary (Cygan) Yurkovich.

Ruth worked for Armco Steel in Butler as an administrative assistant. She retired after 25 years of service. Ruth served on the board of directors for the Butler Armco Employees Credit Union for 28 years. She was a member of the Armco Women’s Club, and All Saints Parish, St. Conrad Roman Catholic Church in Meridian. Before that, she was a member of the former St. John Roman Catholic Church and St. Stanislaus Roman Catholic Church, both in Lyndora, where she had been a Eucharistic minister.

Through her participation in the Beta Sigma Phi business sorority, she made many lifelong friends. In her youth, she enjoyed marching with the Lyndora Girl’s Drum and Bugle Corps.

Ruth enjoyed reading, walking with her sister and friend, Donna, as well as traveling in her free time.

Ruth volunteered with many organizations including Monday Morning Maintenance Group at Preston Park, Patient Escort for the Butler VA Hospital, making pirohi for Sts. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Church, and working at the All Saints fish fry.

Ruth married Dennis G. Orlowsky on Sept. 15, 1979. He passed away on Nov. 7, 1995.

Surviving is her loving and caring sister, Mary Ann Yurkovich.

In addition to her sister, she is survived by her aunts, Helen Puvak, Ruth Cygan, Dorothy Cygan, Gladys Martin, Norma Cygan, Margaret Yurkovich and Dorothy Yurkovich; her uncle, Emilio Russo; as well as numerous cousins.

She was preceded in death by her aunts, Catherine Daugherty, Ann Russo, Barbara Lavorini and Betty York; and her uncles, Michael Cygan, John Cygan, Andrew Puvak, Andy Cygan, George Cygan, Slavi York, Frank Yurkovich and William Yurkovich.

ORLOWSKY — Friends of Ruth E. Orlowsky, who died Monday, May 9, 2022, will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Conrad Roman Catholic Church in Meridian.

Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Butler.
