Clay Twp overpaid by state
Clay Township was overpaid nearly $4,000 in state aid, according to a recent auditor’s report that covered 2018 to 2021.
According to a representative of the township, the overpayment occurred after a mistake was made regarding the municipality’s reporting of its pension plan to the Pennsylvania Municipality Retirement System.
The full amount has been returned to the state.
The auditors report said there was a failure to implement internal controls to the non-uniformed pension plan in Clay Township.
The mistake occurred after an employee was no longer employed by the township and didn’t need pension plan benefits, the township representative said.
