Cabot man accused of assaulting troopers

State police filed charges Monday against a man they said pushed and spat at troopers while they tried to arrest him for an involuntary commitment.

Kent E. Facemire, 42, was arraigned Monday by District Judge Lewis Stoughton in Chicora on charges including felony aggravated assault and misdemeanor counts of resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.

Facemire was held briefly in Butler County Prison in lieu of $1 bond, which has since been posted. A condition of his release is to report to Butler County Probation for pretrial supervision.

According to charging documents, state police arrived around 9:30 p.m. Sunday at Facemire’s home. Police said Facemire answered the door immediately, and they told him they would take him to a hospital.

“Facemire then shut the door in our face,” said the investigating officer in the affidavit.

Police opened the door and tried to pull Facemire from his home.

“Facemire then pushed (one trooper) in the chest,” police said. “Facemire then spit almost hitting (another trooper) in the face.”

Police said Facemire continued to resist even after being placed in the cruiser, kicking the inside of the vehicle and shouting obscenities at the troopers.

Facemire is scheduled to appear May 18 for a preliminary hearing before District Judge Sue Haggerty.
