East Brady woman charged with DUI in Chicora crash
An East Brady woman is being accused of drunken driving and causing an April 14 crash in Chicora that sent three people to the hospital.
State police filed charges Monday against Pamela J. King, 56, including felony counts of DUI and aggravated assault by vehicle, as well as misdemeanor DUI and six summary traffic violations. Those violations include speeding, careless driving and reckless driving, among others.
King has yet to be arraigned on those charges as of Wednesday, after which she will be issued a bond and scheduled for a preliminary hearing before District Judge Lewis Stoughton.
According to charging documents, police have witnesses and traffic camera footage showing King leaving her lane while banking into a lefthand curve. Police said she drove into the oncoming lane, crashing into the other vehicle.
“As a result of the crash, (the other driver) was transported by medical helicopter to UPMC Presbyterian with serious injury,“ said the investigating officer in the affidavit. ”(Two passengers in the other vehicle) were transported to Butler Memorial Hospital by ambulance with minor injuries.“
Police said King admitted to drinking before driving, and she later supplied her blood for testing, which showed a blood-alcohol content of .185%. In Pennsylvania, the legal limit is .08%.
According to police, if convicted this would be King’s third DUI.
