Jean-Pierre Pressau
Jean-Pierre Pressau, 92, of Cabot, a former Evans City resident for 60 years, entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Wednesday, May 4, 2022, at the Good Samaritan Hospice of Cabot.
Born May 12, 1929, in Elkins, W.Va., he was the son of the late Wilson Leo Pressau and Mary Virginia Jenkins Pressau.
Jean-Pierre went to elementary school in Curtisville, Pa., and was a graduate of West Deer High School, Class of 1947. He graduated from Houghton College in Houghton, N.Y., Class of 1952, with a bachelor's degree in chemistry.
Jean-Pierre was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in the 82nd Airborne Division as an active corporal from 1954 to 1956. He retired in 1990 from PPG Industries as a senior engineering associate.
Over the years, his church responsibilities included choir member, member of the men's quartet, member of the building committee, Sunday school superintendent, deacon and elder (emeritus). He attended PCA general assemblies in several U.S. cities, and was moderator for Pittsburgh Presbytery PCA. He was most recently a member of Gospel Fellowship Presbyterian Church (PCA) in Valencia.
Jean-Pierre was on the Evans City borough council from 1985 to 1993, serving as president for a part of that time. He enjoyed attending operas, reading, traveling, providing hospitality with his beloved wife, playing piano, attending concerts and playing Scrabble.
Surviving are his sons, Martin (Sandra) Pressau and Paul (Christine) Pressau; his daughter, Miriam Hixon; his grandchildren, Tatiana Pressau, Jacquelyn Pressau, Arielle (Brent) Buccine, Desiree Pressau, Megan Hixon, Jacob Hixon and Julia (Steve) Fleck; five great-grandchildren; and his brothers, Dr. Jack Renard Presseau and David Frederick Pressau.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma (Mathewson) Pressau, whom he married Aug. 15, 1952, and who passed away March 2, 2020; and his son-in-law, Jeff Hixon, who passed away on Sept. 26, 2007.
PRESSAU — Friends of Jean-Pierre Pressau, who died Wednesday, May 4, 2022, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at FOX FUNERAL HOME, 410 W. Main St., Saxonburg.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Gospel Fellowship Presbyterian Church (PCA), 161 McFann Road, Valencia, PA 16059, with Pastor Matthew Everhard and Pastor David O'Leary officiating. Everyone please meet at the church.
Interment with military honors will follow in Lakewood Memorial Gardens.
