1 dead in mobile home fire
One person died in a fire early Saturday at the Rustic Ridge mobile home park in Summit Township.
Lick Hill Fire Chief Bryan Powell said dispatchers called his crew around 5:30 a.m. to a home on Jodi Lane. Powell said a neighbor had called to alert authorities.
The home’s resident, a wheelchair bound woman, was found dead in the living room when firefighters entered, according to authorities.
“The fire was in the living room of the home,” Powell said. “When we arrived on the scene, it was in a smoldering state because insulation fell out of the ceiling and smothered the fire.”
Both the coroner’s office and the state police fire marshal were notified. According to the coroner’s office, an autopsy has not been scheduled.
Powell said his department was joined by fire departments from East Butler, Herman, Butler and Oneida Valley. The East Butler Ambulance Service also assisted at the scene.
Powell said there was no damage to neighboring mobile homes, but a cat also died in the fire.
