Downtown Butler got a refresh treatment Saturday, just in time for spring.

Adults and children alike flocked to city streets Saturday morning with their gloves, leaf blowers, screw drivers and other supplies in hand to pick up trash and clear brush and plant debris at Spring Cleanup Day organized by Butler Downtown.

The effort involved individual volunteers, but also members of the Butler Garden Club, who brought brooms and dustpans with them to clear brush and make the sidewalks shine. Some volunteers used screwdrivers to dig weeds out from between sidewalk squares.

Volunteers were also treated to coffee and doughnuts at the Venue on Main so they could fuel up prior to the clean up.

A Facebook post by Butler Downtown said the cleanup event was to prepare downtown for spring and summer shoppers.
