Lernerville opens season

BUFFALO TWP — After dealing with early-season cancellations due to inclement weather, Lernerville Speedway finally opened its 2022 Fab4 racing season Friday night.

AJ Flick (Sprints), Jared Miley (Late Models), Mat Williamson (Modifieds) and Tyler Dietz (Pro Stocks) were the first drivers to snare the checkered flags this spring. Flick took the lead from longtime race leader Michael Bauer with two laps remaining in the Sprint race, the first feature of the night.

Miley passed Alex Ferree — who had been leading the Late Model race before surrendering the advantage to Michael Norris on lap 14 — for second place on lap 21, setting up a four-lap showdown with Norris. Miley caught Norris for the win.

Williamson, a four-time Lernerville track champon in Modifieds, dominated that division’s season-opening feature for his 31st career win at the Sarver oval.

Dietz took command on lap 2 of the Pro Stock feature and led the rest of the way, posting his 17th career Lernerville win.

The All-Star Circuit of Champions Sprint Cars will face at Lernerville this Friday, joined by the Pro Stocks and RUSH Sportsman Modifieds.
