Jean C. Myers
Jean C. Myers, 94, of Winfield Township, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 14, 2022, at Good Samaritan Hospice Unit at Concordia in Cabot.
Jean was born in Freeport, on Dec. 12, 1927, and was a daughter of the late Bertha (Kalmeyer) and Ralph A. Gardner. She was the widow of John G. "Pete" Myers, who passed in 2003.
Jean worked for many years as a night operator at the old Freeport Telephone Company. During World War II, Jean was a member of the Citizens Defense Corps. She was a plane spotter and was stationed on the hill above the town of Freeport, where Laube Hall is now located.
She loved babysitting and did so for many friends and neighbors. Jean was an animal lover, and would take in many strays and care for them.
Jean was a member of the United Presbyterian Church of Freeport.
Jean is survived by her son, John R. (Barbara) Myers of Buffalo Township; and her daughter, Sue Ann Myers of Winfield Township.
In addition to her parents and husband, Jean was preceded in death by her brother, Arthur Gardner.
MYERS — Private family services for Jean C. Myers, who died Thursday, April 14, 2022, were held in the REDMOND FUNERAL HOME in Freeport.
She was buried in the Freeport Cemetery alongside her husband.
