Doja Cat’s supposed love of Taco Bell’s Mexican Pizza is about as messy and layered as the discontinued menu item.

On Monday the singer-rapper and fast-food chain announced the May 19 return of the culinary concoction that was taken off the menu in 2020. The move comes a few weeks after Doja Cat shared an underwhelming jingle she was commissioned to write in which she showed her purported appreciation.

The hitmaker claimed to have written the ode poorly on purpose.

In March the Grammy winner unveiled the “monstrosity” of a song for the Mexican pizza on TikTok — where she has 23.3 million followers — urging Taco Bell to bring it back. She then celebrated its return.

“I like my pizza with refried beans / Peep my ad / Search YouTube / This ain’t even Mexican food / But I don’t care when the clock hits 2 a.m. / p.m. if that is your mood,” she rapped.

It was not quite the award-grabbing content you expect from the recent Grammy winner, but that might have been the point. In Monday’s press release, Taco Bell Chief Executive Mark King alluded to the work as an “infamous” jingle.

“Doja Cat, the voice of the Taco Bell people (...) literally dropped the mic with the HOT news of the Mexican Pizza’s return this May,” Taco Bell said in the release.

To her credit, just before releasing the song, the 26-year-old warned followers that the puzzling business move was coming and that she didn’t really want to to do it, so she was going to “make it terrible on purpose.”

“I just want to give you a heads up, before you see that s—, it’s contractual,” she said in the clip. “Shhh, I know it’s bad.”

“Better Call Saul” and its star Bob Odenkirk carried on the legacy of “Breaking Bad,” but the time has come to say goodbye to the spinoff-prequel. The final season begins Monday with the first of seven episodes, airing on AMC and AMC+, with the final six episdoes debuting July 11. The show has been on hiatus since season five ended April 2020. The pandemic caused production delays and, during this season’s taping, a health issue for Odenkirk affected taping.

More than seven months after he was born, the child of hip-hop power couple Cardi B and Offset has been revealed.

Offset, 30, told the couple’s combined 147 million Twitter followers, in all caps, the name of their son: Wave Set Cephus.

Proud mom Cardi B, 29, opted for a more visual message, using three emojis to officially welcome their little one: a dinosaur, a crashing wave and a teddy bear.

“When Set suggested Wave, I was sold! THAT HAD TO BE HIS NAME!,” she wrote on the social media platform.

Wave’s big sister, Kulture Kiari Cephus, was born in 2018.
