SRU baseball sweeps Seton Hill again

GREENSBURG — Slippery Rock High School graduate Ricky Mineo enjoyed another stellar mound outing Saturday as the Slippery Rock University baseball team swept its second consecutive doubleheader against Seton Hill.

The Rock (23-9, 9-7) won the twinbill by scores of 3-0 and 2-1 in eight innings. Seton Hill fell to 23-11-1 overall, 9-7 in PSAC West play. The Griffins were swept four games by a PSAC West opponent for the first time since 2014.

Mineo tossed a compete game in Game 1, striking out eight and allowing only three hits. He walked one and threw 94 pitches. Mineo has allowed just three runs in his past three starts, covering 20 innings.

Alex Robenolt had three hits in the first game, including a double, and drove in two runs. Joel Spishock and Connor Hamilton had two hits each, Spishock driving in the other run.

Ethan Edkins was the winning pitcher in the second game, scattering five hits over seven innings. The freshman improved to 4-0 on the season with an earned run average of 1.80. Travis Holman pitched the bottom of the eighth and got his third save of the campaign.

Luke Trueman hit a go-ahead home run in the top of the eighth for the game-deciding tally. SRU stranded10 runners in the contest. Spishock had a double and single while Joe Ehland had a pair of hits for The Rock.

SRU hosts Lock Haven in a non-conference doubleheader at 1 p.m. Tuesday.
