John Donald Wheeler, 56, of Treasure Lake, Dubois, passed away after a lengthy and courageous cancer battle on April 9, 2022, at home surrounded by his beloved family. He passed peacefully and pain free, watching the beautiful sunset on the woods and listening to classical music — exactly how he wanted it. John died exactly how he lived his life, low-key and worrying about everyone else.

John worked as a senior tax adviser for H&R Block for many years. Doing taxes was just one of his many loves.

He was a lifelong learner, having held four bachelor’s degrees and a master’s degree.

He was an avid gardener and loved to be outdoors in all weather.

WHEELER — A private viewing and funeral for John Donald Wheeler, who died Saturday, April 9, 2022, will be held at GEISEL FUNERAL HOME, Johnstown.

A celebration of life will be announced later and will be held in Dubois for all to attend.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. John was an adult who lived a blessed life experiencing many things, but no child should lose life to cancer.
