Ruth Cooper
Ruth Irene Cooper, 89, of Slippery Rock, passed away Tuesday, April 5, 2022.
She was born on Oct. 8, 1932, in Slippery Rock, to Charles Wesley Hesselgesser and Auda Floss Johnston Hesselgesser.
Ruth attended Slippery Rock High School.
Ruth had a wonderful life. Following school, she married Glenn Evans Cooper, with whom she shared many adventures.
She worked at Cooper Brothers, running errands and administering numerous tasks for the company.
Ruth was a Presbyterian.
She liked to golf, travel and square dance with her husband. She raised dalmatians and had her own yarn shop. One of Ruth’s favorite hobbies was decorating her concrete lions, which were proudly displayed at her Florida residence. She was generous to her community and along with her husband, contributed to various charities and churches. Above everything, she enjoyed spending time with her family.
She is survived by many nieces and nephews, as well as great-nieces and great- nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; four sisters, Edna Henry, Ethel Richards Dollman, Ila Margaret Walton and Jean Kuhn; and three brothers, Dwight, Charles and Robert Hesselgesser.
COOPER — The family of Ruth Irene Cooper, who died Tuesday, April 5, 2022, will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday and from 1 p.m. until the time of service at 2 p.m. Sunday at SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with Pastor Jeffrey Lynn of the Crossroads Baptist Church presiding.
