Victor John Shawl, 86, of West Sunbury passed away Friday, April 1, 2022, at Concordia Lutheran Ministries.

Born in West Monterey on Dec. 5, 1935, he was the son of the late Preston and late Gladys A. (Snyder) Shawl.

Victor was a life member of the West Sunbury United Presbyterian Church, where he was very active and served as a trustee. He was a veteran of the United States Army, stationed in Panama and also the National Guard Unit in Butler. He retired from Armco as a hook on and strip shearer after 41 years. He was a member of the Parker Allegheny Canby Lodge 521 and life member of the West Sunbury Volunteer Fire Department.

Victor is survived by four daughters: Shari Dillon of Warren, Ohio, Lori Shawl of West Sunbury, Leah (Gary) Plunkard of West Sunbury, and Bobbie Vance (fiancé, Tom Hutchison) of Butler; five grandchildren: Ryan and Andrew Dillon, and Autumn (Dillan Surrena), Laurel and Jordan Plunkard; one great-grandson, Cooper Surrena; one brother-in-law Forrest (Bonnie) Jordan; and several nieces and nephews.

Victor was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy E. (Jordan) Shawl, who passed away on June 22, 2018, and whom he married on Oct. 14, 1961; three sisters: Eleanor Best, Evelyn Porter and Joan Fine; and one infant granddaughter.

SHAWL — Family and friends of Victor John Shawl, who died Friday, April 1, 2022, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the WILLIAM F. YOUNG FUNERAL HOME, 132 Main St., West Sunbury.

A Masonic Lodge service will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the West Sunbury United Presbyterian Church, 215 E Church St., West Sunbury, with the Rev. Deb Crusan officiating.

Burial in West Sunbury Union Cemetery.
