SRU baseball sweeps DH

WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. — Slippery Rock University’s baseball team snapped a three-game losing streak Wednesday with an 11-0, 7-0 doubleheader sweep at West Liberty.

The Rock (13-3) used eight pitchers in the twinbill and allowed only six hits. Abraham Mow had four hits in the two games, scoring four runs. Jon Kozarian also had four hits and scored three runs.

Alex Robenolt had three hits and five RBI.

Connor Hamilton had three hits, three RBI and two runs scored in Game 1.

Despite having the lead in both games, Slippery Rock dropped a doubleheader to Indiana (Pa.) Tuesday at Critchfield Park.

The Crimson Hawks (10-7, 3-1) won the games by scores of 3-2 and 8-5. SRU slipped to 1-3 in PSAC West play.

Luke Trueman struck out six and allowed three runs in six innings as The Rock’s starting pitcher in Game 1. He hit a grand slam in the second game. Hamilton reached base four times in the twinbill — three times on walks — and Joe Ehland had an RBI in both games.

IUP scored three runs in the sixth inning to rally for the Game 1 victory. Seneca Valley graduate Anthony Cinicola had two hits in that contest.

Andy McClymonds took the loss for SRU in Game 2, surrendering six runs on six hits over three innings. Mow had a double in the defeat.
