Marlyn J. (Petri) Dempsey, 81, of Butler, passed away on Saturday, March 19, 2022, at Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Born April 30, 1940, in Milwaukee, Wis., she was the daughter of the late John Wayne Petri and the late Angeline (Rupert) Petri.

Marlyn married her high school sweetheart, Robert “Bob” Dempsey, on Oct. 17, 1958; he passed away on June 24, 2013.

She never stopped loving her hobbies for gardening and anything that had to do with music, as she loved to sing and play the piano. Above all else, Marlyn was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend.

Marlyn is survived by her daughter, Dawn Lawrence of Alabama; her sister, Phyllis Hineman of Alabama; and multiple grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two daughters, Sharon Lopes and JoEllen Alberts; and her two brothers, Keith and Wayne Petri.

DEMPSEY — Arrangements for Marlyn J. (Petri) Dempsey, who died Saturday, March 19, 2022, have been entrusted to THOMPSON-MILLER FUNERAL HOME, 124 E. North St., Butler.

Per her wishes, Marlyn’s family will be remembering her life privately.

A memorial service to honor her life will be celebrated at a later date at the convenience of the family.
