Brady supervisors discuss new building

BRADY TWP — Brady Township supervisors discussed updates to the new building at 131 West Liberty Road and heard concerns from residents at the Wednesday night meeting.

Recent purchases for the building included four garage door lifts and the installation of a fire wall. The garage doors cost around $6,000.

Residents in attendance questioned the supervisors on certain costs regarding the building, saying “hundreds of thousands of dollars have already been spent” on a building that won’t be ready to hold primary elections between its relocation and current construction.

When several residents asked if they’d be allowed to tour the new building, chairman Kenneth Hertzog said the supervisors are discussing the possibility of allowing residents to see it before the township’s Clean Up Days May 20 to 22.

“We are considering having it open, so residents can see what’s being done at their building,” he said. “It’s their building, not ours.”

Supervisors tabled the discussion about using American Rescue Plan funds toward the building until next month’s meeting. The funds for the coming year will be received in April or May. According to previous reports, supervisors voted to use previous COVID-19 relief funds toward the new building’s construction.

The next Brady Township supervisors meeting is at 7 p.m. April 20.
