Paul Critchlow

Critchlow

Paul S. Critchlow, 88, of Butler, passed away at his home the evening of Friday, March 11, 2022, after a short illness.

Paul was born on June 21, 1933, in Cherry Township, Butler County, and was the son of the late H. Greer Critchlow and Edith Elnora (Scott) Critchlow. Paul was very proud that his parents raised and fostered 58 children at their home in West Sunbury, where Moniteau High School now sits.

Paul was a proud veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a member of the American Legion Post 117 in Butler, and worked as an insurance broker for his own insurance business for over 60 years. He was very proud of his business and the life he built from the ground up.

Paul loved to play golf and held many golfing fundraisers for local organizations. He loved his Model A, and was a huge sports fan, especially the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was a worldwide traveler, but also treasured time spent sitting on the deck with his wife and his dog, Turbo the 5th, who was his best friend. He loved making wine and started a successful wine club in Butler. He enjoyed sharing his wine with family and friends.

Paul’s strength led him to fight and beat cancer. Most of all, Paul was a loving and caring man, who stood by his own word, and handshakes meant a lot to him.

Paul was a dedicated husband to his wife, Phyllis Ann (DeLancey) Critchlow, of Butler.

He is also survived by three daughters, Angel (Kurt) Siegfried of Ohio, Suzette Critchlow of Florida and Antrese (Chris) Critchlow-Wood of Ohio; two sons, Todd (Kim) Critchlow and Darin (Valerie) Critchlow, both of Georgia; one stepdaughter, Carla Bowser (Brittani Sabich); 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Also surviving is one sister, Louella (Dale) Weigle of Valencia; and two brothers, Robert (Carmella) Critchlow of Butler and George (Shirley) Critchlow of Florida.

Paul was preceded in death by two sisters.
